Australia 2014

In January 2014 we travelled to Adelaide to see Abi, Carl, Declan and our new grand-daughter, Alice Darcy.  We arrived in the middle of a heatwave, and survived daytime temperatures as high as 46 degrees, but a week cooling off at a coastal resort called Victor Harbour and a long weekend visiting the Barossa Valley wine growing region helped to make this a very special and enjoyable holiday.  Here are some photos of the trip/

This is our lovely Alice. At 9 months she is the most delightful little girl Her character is already developing and she is a great mimic As you can see in this interactive photo with father, Carl Just wait until she starts walking! Declan was delighted to see us Liz couldn't wait to get her toes in the warm sand

And spent hours walking along the beach Sunset was always a magical time, when the heat of the day finally lessened Lizzie also bonded with Alice and kept spiriting her away for walks We had booked a week in cabins at Victor Harbour and enjoyed the a/c It was also a much needed holiday for Abi Declan enjoyed bouncing on the bouncy pillow

We found a fairground Ate lots of meals out Survived giant milk shakes Walked across to Granite Island where there were penguins Walks through mysterious trees And a horse-drawn tram for those wanting to ride

We also found a steam locomotive and rode on it to nearby Goolwa Declan chatted up the crew And was presented with a piece of coal Back in Adelaide we found Koalas up in the trees And a Kookaburra Liz and I escaped for a long weekend in the Barossa Valley, at Lyndoch Hill winery

Where we managed to squeeze some walks in the early morning before it got too hot The hotel had beautiful gardens with thousands of roses,sadly past their best in the heat Our last morning was spent at Hallett Cove Where we enjoyed coffee and ice cream A last hug of our grandson And bade a fond farewell to the rest of our lovely family "down under"
